I have been a Norton customer for many, many years and never had an issue. I use Norton for personal, corporate and education internet needs and have not endured slowness nor any other issues. In addition, I am a VPN employee of a major corporation and Norton has never been a hindrance while I complete my fast-paced daily work tasks.

Many antivirus products require that their own extensions/add-ons are enabled in Web browsers in order to screen URLs and block Web-based attacks. I don’t know how well Norton’s own extensions work, or how much they slow down a browser, but you could always try them out, and then disable them if you don’t like them.
